Ministry is serving others. Every Christian should be a minister. Of course, we don’t all have the same ministry. Our gifts and talents vary, so what one person can do is different from another. We’ll help you find the way you can best serve the church and beyond. Below are a few of the ministries currently active.
GriefShare
GriefShare is a grief recovery group specifically for those who have lost a loved one to death. We started this group to help one of own members who lost her disabled daughter several years ago. This ministry has helped many people from our community and continues to be one of our most important efforts to help both members and those who live around us.
Pastoral and “Coffee Cup” Counseling
Dr. Bill Denton is a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor and offers limited appointments for biblically based, spiritual counseling. This can help with personal life problems, depression and anxiety, marriage issues, grief, and more. We also have several of our members who have gone through a “Coffee Cup” counseling training. This is very informal, but highly personal help from people who can listen, point you to Bible help, and, through friendship, guide you through many of life’s lesser, but still aggravating issues.
Bible Studies
We’re big on Bible study, both formal classes on Sundays and Wednesdays, but also personal, individual Bible study in a one-on-one setting. We can also set you up with self-study materials that can lead you to an deeper understanding of scripture. Bibl study is the base for discipleship, living a Christ-like life, leadership training, teacher training, and more.
Churches of Christ Disaster Relief
Churches of Christ Disaster Relief provides help after disasters of all kinds. Based in Nashville, TN, it is a collaborative effort of churches of Christ to provide food, emergency supplies, and other resources following hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, earthquakes, etc. Our connection with Churches of Christ Disaster Relief came after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 when they brought tons of food, cleaning supplies, and househood goods that were then distributed through our church to the Biloxi community. They were of such great help to us, we continue to send financial support so that they can continue this fantastic work.
